Trainee Paraplanner - with Excellent IT Skills

We have an exciting opportunity for a candidate to join our Birkett Long Independent Financial Advisers in a role as a Trainee Paraplanner and to help develop and maintain our software system.

The Role

The role is to support our Financial Planners and Financial Planning Managers to include preparation of new business documents, communication with clients, capturing and recording client data and producing investment reports.

In addition, a key role will be the development of our financial services software systems to assist the growth of the business; therefore, excellent IT skills are essential.

The position is full time and will be based in our Colchester Office. 

Full training and practical support will be provided both externally and internally by our experienced Financial Planning Managers and the wider team.

The Candidate

You will possess the following skills:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and advanced MS Excel
  • Educated to A level standard and must have a minimum of GCSE Grade 6 or above in English and Maths, or equivalent
  • Computer Science A level advantageous
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills with a high degree of accuracy
  • Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and to use own initiative
  • Team player with a positive attitude and willingness to learn.

Trainee Financial Planner

Are you a motivated and dependable individual seeking to start and build a career in financial planning?  We have an exciting opportunity for an exceptional candidate to join the Birkett Long IFA team as part of a four-year training programme designed for you to progress through to an Assistant Financial Planner and then to a Financial Planner. 

The Role
This is a four-year training programme designed for the successful candidate to progress to an Assistant Financial Planner and then onto qualify as a Financial Planner. The position is full time and will initially be based in our Colchester office although it may be necessary to work at our other two offices in Chelmsford and Basildon; therefore, flexibility is essential and the ability to drove would be advantageous.  

The role will involve providing support to the Birkett Long IFA team.  Full training and practical support will be provided with the exceptional backing of one of the leading Law and Financial Planning Practices in Essex.

The Candidate
You will have a genuine interest in financial planning or have experience within the Financial Services Sector, possess strong attention to detail, and will be seeking to develop your career in financial planning. Previous experience in a Financial Services or Accounting role would be advantageous but is not essential. 

You will show a genuine passion for delivering excellent client service and display a willingness to learn and be flexible and dedicated. Additional study will be required outside of working hours and therefore you must display a can-do attitude, be able to manage your workload and prioritise effectively. You will be supported and encouraged to achieve your goals within the Financial Services Industry.

The ideal candidate will:-

  • Be able to multi-task and work under pressure.
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to display empathy.
  • Have a professional attitude and appearance.
  • Be competent in the use of Microsoft Office 365 including Excel, Word and Outlook.

  • Be flexible and reliable with excellent organisational skills.

Assistant Financial Planner

Are you looking for a career and not just a job?  We have an exciting opportunity for an exceptional candidate to join the Birkett Long IFA team as part of a two-year training programme designed for you to progress to a Financial Planner.
 
The Role
This training programme is intended to last for a duration of two years however some flexibility with the timetable is possible. The programme is designed for the successful candidate to progress to a Financial Planner. The position is full time and will initially be based in our Colchester Office although it may be necessary to work at our other two offices in Chelmsford and Basildon; therefore, flexibility is essential and the ability to drive would be advantageous. 

The training will be undertaken within the team for the role, you will be working with other team members and supporting the Financial Planners and Financial Planning Managers. The Candidate
You will hold the Chartered Insurance Institute Level 4 Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning or equivalent and have at least two years’ experience as a Paraplanner or training to become a Financial Planner in an IFA Practice.  You will be motivated and dependable, with strong attention to detail, seeking to develop your career in financial planning. 

You will show a genuine passion for delivering excellent client service and display a willingness to learn and be flexible and dedicated.
