David Bennett

The Information Technology team is responsible for the day-to-day support of all the IT systems used within Birkett Long and their ongoing development. IT has a direct impact on the firm's operational performance.

I am a professional CTO/IT Director with a proven track record of defining and delivering cross-functional transformational projects and programmes. A pragmatist who thrives at the interface between the business and technical world, I help to reduce costs, manage change, develop teams and drive growth.

I have worked in the legal and finance sector for 25 years, with large, medium and small professional service firms – both nationally and globally, implementing IT strategies for firms as far afield as Africa and managing global IT support and development operations. I was proud to be able to introduce the first ‘total’ cloud services solution within the UK legal industry.

Almost everyone at Birkett Long uses IT systems and it is my role to support them - and sometimes clients too - as well as develop the existing IT infrastructure. I look to proactively address client needs while trying to create market differentiation for the firm through new legal products/solutions and excellence in client service. My aim is to leverage the right combination of technologies and resources to help increase productivity and negate the impact of ever-increasing costs.

I am not sure that I ever made a conscious decision to work in the field as I. Joined Marconi Radar after leaving university. Since then I have had so many opportunities and experiences - visiting and working in parts of the world, I never expected. I wouldn't change it for the world!

In my spare time I like cooking and listening to music, enjoy London musicals and socialising - eating out with friends.
