Innovative team shortlisted for Money Marketing Awards

Birkett Long’s experienced team of Independent Financial Advisers has been shortlisted for Money Marketing’s Best Small Adviser of the Year award.

The 12-strong team recently became a separate entity, Birkett Long IFA LLP, providing innovative advice on all areas of financial planning, including investments, retirement planning, long-term care and Inheritance Tax planning.

Nicola Ward, Team Leader and Financial Planning Manager, said: “Birkett Long IFA LLP is absolutely delighted to be shortlisted for such a prestigious award, especially as it is the first time we have entered.  The team works extremely hard delivering innovative solutions to our clients’ financial needs, and providing independent financial advice.”

Representatives of the team will travel to Money Marketing’s offices in London for an interview with the judging panel. Winners will be announced at the Awards ceremony on 22 June.

Birkett Long first established a two-strong in-house Financial Services team 30 years ago as it could see the benefits this would provide to clients. Although now a separate entity, it remains part of Birkett Long Group, giving clients the advantage of having their financial and legal affairs dealt with under one roof, with continuity of advice.

Birkett Long IFA LLP has offices in Colchester, Chelmsford and Basildon, covering a wider geographical area than many small firms. And, with two advisers having been with Birkett Long for almost 30 years, and some support staff for more than 15 years, the team has vast experience to offer its clients.

One client explained: “I really would be lost in the financial world without your continuing and friendly assistance. I wanted to say thank you for your can-do attitude and the way you manage to make even the most monumental tasks seem to be achievable, with a minimum of stress and fuss.”

Alongside experienced advisers, the firm has launched a Financial Adviser Training Programme to support its growth towards becoming one of the leading independent financial advisory firms in Essex. It aims to recruit at least one trainee Financial Adviser each year, and has a number of other employees studying for exams.

The firm works closely with the community, writing informative articles for local publications, issuing bi-monthly newsletters to clients, and organising seminars in partnership with Birkett Long Solicitors. Advisers have also presented to residents in care homes and sheltered housing developments.
